Kate Stacom, LICSW

Kate Stacom received her Master of Social Work from Simmons College in 2013 where she specialized in Trauma and Interpersonal Violence. She has completed intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and has met the educational requirements for a certificate. Kate has several years of experience in community based mental health settings within emergency services, milieu crisis settings and most recently as a manager and clinician of a community based treatment team. She enjoys working with adolescents and young adults who struggle with mood disorders, anxiety, emotion dysregulation, self-identity conflicts as well as people who are having difficulties adjusting to a life transition including a new mental health diagnosis. Kate utilizes an eclectic approach, which is founded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative Therapy to help people reduce the use of negative coping strategies or ineffective interpersonal skills and increase effective skills that have longstanding benefits. Kate has an energetic, validating and collaborative approach, which aids in building a strong therapeutic relationship and developing mutually identified goals. She enjoys helping people find strengths that they never knew existed, which in turn helps them live a life that gives pleasure and meaning.
