Dr. Alexis Chavis is a licensed Clinical Psychologist who provides individual, psychotherapy for adults. She is trained in multiple therapeutic modalities, including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, and Interpersonal Process. Her approach to psychotherapy is patient-centered and integrative of these various treatment approaches based on what will best meet her client’s needs. Ultimately, she strives to create a space where patients can freely explore their thoughts, feelings, and relationships, so they can find their path forward in life. Her areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, trauma, domestic violence, major life transitions, interpersonal/relationship distress, and identity development/concerns.
Dr. Chavis received her doctoral training at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, followed by an internship working at the National Psychology Training Consortium, which included an inpatient hospital in rural Missouri, as well as a postdoctoral fellowship on an inpatient psychiatric unit at Palomar Hospital in Escondido, CA. Prior to her doctoral training, she received a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology, with a concentration in Community/Agency work at New York University, and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Iowa.
